Sir Elton John
A global talent search to add the voice of a new generation to the legacy of a global icon.
To mark the enduring cultural impact of the creative partnership between Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, YouTube in partnership with Pulse Films launched a worldwide invitation to create music videos for three timeless tracks that never had videos when released - Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer and Bennie And The Jets.
Supported by an episodic branded content series on Sir Elton’s YouTube channel that unpacked the origin of each song and with a judging panel comprising Oscar-winning director Barry Jenkins, Dreamworks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and Grammy awarded director Melina Matsoukas, the competition unearthed and launched the careers of the new creative face of the music industry,
Winners were revealed at an invite-only event at the Cannes film festival hosted by Spike Jonze.
More than half of the entries were from 18 to 34-year-olds, while the music and campaign videos have attracted over 14 millions views and counting.
The project earned an Entertainment Cannes Lions nomination.
